More on Studio Projects mics...

What are your experiences with these mics? They seem dead-cheap to me. Are they any good? Usable?

I have a C-1 at home. I have used it direct into a converter (no pre)and it is more natural and warmer than most mics in the price range. It gets a good proximity effect if you dig that kind of thing.

I also have a CD with all of their mics going through Neve, Meek, Trident, V-72, Red-1 pres and through the neve, I thought it sounded like a million bucks. If you have a good pre, you can get a little gold from it but then again, you could from a '57 as well.

oh, well .02.

We like to think they are affordable rather than cheap. I think you fill find lots of information on the web if you do a Google search on Studio Projects. Like every other mic you get different opinions, but most agree, it is a great mic for the money.

Do the homework and I am sure you will be happy if you get one.

A band I produced have an AW4416 and a C1 to do their demos and I was surprised at the quality of their vocal and OH tone.
