specific patchbay question

Hi All,

I'm looking for a quality bantam 96point patchbay that is configured half normalled, but where the normals can be removed at installation. Preferably soldered type. I cruised that mr patchbay site and there are some options there, mainly types with a third row that is half normalled, but I'm looking for more options...

Greetings,
Dirk

IMO, Audio Accessories, Inc. in Marlow, New Hampshire, USA make the best patch bays around.

Not only can you solder or remove the normals in the field, you can move each jack anywhere in the bay. The jacks are independent from each other. You can have the jacks normal from left to right. Top to bottom or even row one to row twenty. Very cool stuff...

They have a new product that allows you to change the normalling during the install. They call it "Quick-Switch."

Check them out at http://www.patchbays.com

thanks Steve.

After cruising their site, their standard mini tt 96point patchbay is exactly what I need. I'll send them a mail to see if I can custom order one of them (24 half normalled, 24 not normalled).

How do you guys solder the connetions, just the wire directly to the connections or are their connectors that I can solder to the cables and then slide on the patchbay connections?

Greetings,
Dirk

I don't know what those bays cost new, but I've bought 4 ADC 3-row (144point) bays off eBay for $50 each +shipping+import taxes.. Having 3 rows in 1U gives me the option of having full-normal AND half-normal on each point.

You can either wire cables direct or make multi's with multipins at the back of your bay. I did it direct, but now I wish I'd done it with some kind of multipin connector (simplifies future changes in both equipment and setup)
