Best drum sample help

Hey yall,

I have these tracks I'm working on...and these drums just arn't cutting it(imagine that)...It's a rock style like The Used, Story of the Year, Good Charlotte mix...I've never really used samples to replace drums..or to mix with the drums..so I was wondering if anyone could point me to some really high end sample libraries...Would love if I could get something in the range of what John Feldman uses...

Any help is great, as I am ignorant in this arena...

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in for this..

Thanks all.
Brian

Hello Brian,
Check out www.soundsonline.com and look at the Drumkit from Hell stuff. There's also Bob Clearmountain Drums. I've also heard good things about Scarbee Imperial Drums at www.scarbee.com. Also do search on this forum for "drum replacement", or "drum samples"...you may find some posts from the past about this.

I love Drum kits from Hell,

Lots of samples, and the best part is that for every drum sample, there's an ambient sample too.

Each drum hit was recorded with two sources, close mic and room mics. Once you combine those together, it's pretty deadly.

Last night I did a drum sample loop passed it out of the DAC-1 and into a pair of distressors, one with 1:1 ratio/brit mode in and the other smashed at 10:1 opto @ 20db GR. That came back in to the Apogee AD 16x @ 96K Nuendo session.

I can tell you that it was really close to the real thing! Even some tape would do some pretty wild things. Check out the Bliss of Tape thread (on this or the high end forum, really answers your question)

Anyhow, this CD is worth the $

Good luck

Jason

I really like the drum sounds from The Used and Story of The Year. They were produced by the same producer John Feldman. I love the punchiness and largeness of the drums. However I'm pretty damn sure that they are definitely sample augmented or replaced. Does drumkits from hell offer samples that sound this good. Hell do you think those drum samples probably came from drumkits from hell? If so I'm definitely interested in picking up a CD.

We've done a lot of comparrison recently among everything we could lay hands on and are going with DFHS over Scarabee, Clearmountain II Giga, BFD, etc.
