Ever get mad and break something?

Here's a story of my days back in colege,

A washburn classical was buzzing a lot on me... My end of year exam was coming up that week and I had to perform in front of the Judges for my final grade.

All I had to do was glue the braces but instead I got mad and punched it...

Let's just say I don't use that guitar anymore and I had to tape it back up to play my exam.

Also, it was quite embarrassing walking into the auditorium with a taped up classical, you can imagine the look on their faces!

Never again will I loose my temper and break and instrument.

Anyone else have stories to share?
Perhaps an 1176 flying accross the room?

Do share!

Jason

I seem to go through quite a few cell phones these days. Digital cell technology has got to be the absolute worst deception ever unleashed on the public. I hold my temper when it comes to very expensive studio gear.

I completely dismantled a Panasonic 3700 DAT machine in the parking lot of a studio several years ago after it ate the 3rd master of our project soon after its 3rd trip to the tech. I wanted to make sure it was permanently out of the equipment pool. Then I took a holy oath to never use DAT again, and to this day I have never broken that vow.

I have a few bad days where I've destroyed my computer mouse, basically launch it at supersonic velocity into the wall. Mouse = particle system. Optical mice really don't hold a candle to the older roller-ball ones in terms of accuracy.

I also have a box of cordless phone wreckage.

An engineer I worked with used to "bat' the gooseneck talkback mic on an Amek Angela out of frustration back when I worked with him in the late 80's... once in a while the mic capsule would fly off and we would play hunt the mic for 20 mins...

Sofa's are good to "beat up" if a rage overtakes you...saves on the ouboard "getting it"

In the 80's pounding your fist on Eventide harmonizers & lifting up and dropping EMU sampler keyboards - was totally in fashion and reccomended by the companies hiring them to you...

I know it's not audio related, but I field-tested my 4-D MagLite on my old malfunctioning HP Inkjet printer several months ago...

The MagLite won.

Years ago I was playing at a political fundraiser with a band that had a tempermental keboard player.

We were setup on top of a small hill and after being told to turn it down for the 1oth time or so, he kicked his Fender Rhodes so hard ir did summersaults all the way to the bottom of the hill.

I was just telling someone that when I get a new printer I'd like to take an axe to the NEC printer that has given me so much grief all these years.

"Don't do that, you could give it to Goodwill and write it off your taxes," he said.

I think I'll take an axe to it anyway. It needs a good smashing up.

I threw a 12 string acoustic accross the room. Luckly it was my guitar. Damn thing would not tune and I wanted to record.

Anyone got a 12 string I can borrow?

You guys are cracking me up!

I have been through hell over six years long by trying to get a ( constantly in parts exchanged ) PC working as a DAW.

Thousands of times I had to kill myself to not smash the fist into the innocent monitor. It was the price for an 21" which kept me away from it. And a couple of times I was one inch away of taking the guilty PC case and throwing it down from the balkony. Again, it were the finances which didnīt let me.

Only thing Iīve done has been a kick to my laser printer. Since that time it always prints lines on the sides of the sheets. Kicked it one more time to repair it, but it didnīt work out.

I've gone through 4 hp printers now. After the first, you come up with new and creative ways to kill them. Back over them in a truck, set them atop a mailbox and stick a bat out of the car window. The last one, i just put out on top of the dumpster. Somebody picked it. It was back there 2 days later. It hung around for about 2 months. HP econo printers suck.

Me and the boys have taken a few computers for a ride too. 00 is perfect on crts.

The other engineer at the place i'm at smashed an MJ Electric that was semihollow inside. Smashed one of the soundchambers right in after some guy stiffed us for around a grand or two. The repair cost almost as much...

I banged my broom into my couch so I wouldn't smash any of my gear when I was pissed. The handle is about half its original length now.

A number of keyboards and mice, a printer and a door (punched my fist right through it).

As you can see, I'm more calm now.

Don't get me started........

Let's just say having a wireless mouse is not always a good thing....I've been thru a couple of those when sitting in front of my PC.......never when using a Mac, go figure......

DId you know that a Peavy M2600 poweramp can create sparks when thrown hard enough onto tarmac? ("Next gig please wear a helmet, folks" - dry comment from Bass player after seeing the M2600 fly in the air after a not-so-successful gig.....)

Ever witnessed a wireless keyboard smashing into the wall? It's a wonderful sight; the keys just pops off all at the same time, like fireworks.

And that f...ing old Alesis HR16 sequencer with its rubber buttons that NEVER EVER worked more than once for every 20th push....not a pretty sight. Well, actually it was, after I smashed it to bits and pieces....

I was doing a soundtrack for a commercial (my first big job and good pay) my computer kept freezing. After the 20th time of this happening over the coarse of 4 hours, I ripped the monitor off the desk and threw it across the room. which made me late on the deadline because I had to borrow a monitor from a friend. not to mention repairing the big scratches on the wood floor. this was 8 years ago, since then I quit drinking coffee and smoking. Ahh the good old days.

Let's see...a NY (vintage) Steingberger fretless on stage (broke a TV on stage with it -- the bridge broke off of the bass), my trusty Music Man Stingray (cracked the headstock off at CBGB's at the end of a show by throwing it across the stage), and I smashed a U.S.A. Strat against a tree once -- the body was D.O.A. -- so I got a new body on EBay, fixed up the axe, and gave it to my girlfriend for Christmas. Of course, it plays and sounds/intonates BETTER (didn't plan on that!), so now it's actually my favorite session guitar -- she gives me sh*t for borrowing it so much.

Everything fixed-up quite nicely!

I think that's just where it begins. It's funny...I'm a mild-mannered dude almost all the time.

Also, I don't think I've ever smashed any recording gear.
