JOE MEEK : VC3Q vs. MQ3 ?

Can anyone please tell me the diffence between these two products?

The only physical difference that i can see between them from looking at the front panel is that the MQ3 discribes its preamp section as a 'currentsense mic pre', whatever the hell that is?

The VC3Q works fine for acoustic guitars, electrics and percussion. I have used it to record a Hammond and at one point for an overhead drum mic pre. I also recorded mandolin and a National steel guitar with it. The Meek stuff I use is all the old stuff. Some say that the new stuff is better and some say the old Ted Fletcher stuff is the way to go. I never used the new stuff. The comp in the unit is colorful and it has a limited EQ section. I might add that all my pres are cheap. That said ...............this has never stopped me from getting some good recordings.
