How do I gog about getting Firewire into my current PC?

Thinking about trying out the Motu 828 as an interface and I dont have firewire input, yet.

Also, what about drivers? If I wanted WDM drivers for Sonar, would I need a firewire card input device that had WDM drivers, or would the motu happily supply all that and the input just does its thing automatically?

And lastly, how much faster is this way, in latency and all other ways, than using the installed acrds with say the 2408 or a Delta 1010?

Thanks

Paul

tubedude?...is that you man?

a firewire card is cheap enough man...I have seen them for as low as $45.00...

The drivers you need should come with the unit man......
someone else will chime in for sure...

ciao,
Joe

just watch out for a little gotcha.
when adding a firewire card just check with the manufacturer of
your sound solution if the chips in the firewire card are compatible. ive heard about some problems.

It may be worth considering an Emu 1820 or 1820M system - ABSOLUTELY GREAT AD/DA - unheard of price for this level of performance....and FW is already on the card....

made for PC - drivers solid solid solid
