The Official AES "Check This Out" Thread

If I can be so bold, we could use a thread to announce stuff like "Come to our booth and win a kitten" and "All you can eat microphone demo at our studio in the Tenderloin." Got a party? Let us know.

I would suggest that those who have announced things, do it again here so it is all in one place.

Jules, does this qualify for a sticky?

First entry, as if you didn't know, Gearslutz dinner at Cha-Am, 701 Folsom St, just off the corner of Folsom and 3rd, behind (to the Southeast of) the Moscone Center. 7:pm RSVP here.

Make sure some of you go by the Manley booth to report here on their new "T/NT" (Tube/No tube) preamp. I heard from a little bird that Hutch went over the top on it.

psst...

I thought I should let my slutz know:

Cha-Am... well, the food is nothing special. The location is perfect, being across the street from Moscone Center, but... don't expect too much cuisine-wise. It's like fast food compared to the real restaurants in town.

Well, that's my tip. I won't even be in town for AES... I'm going to Japan for a vacation/travel trip. I'll see you all at a future AES or elsewhere at some point, I hope.

I've always thought they had the best tom-ka-gai soup in the entire Bay Area... and plenty of other good stuff. There are some very good Thai places in San Francisco and the East Bay, and I'd consider this among them.

Jax .. once we get a few Singhas in you, you'll be fine.

Stop by the Pro Audio Design/ Walters-Storyk Design Group booth.. We will be having Geoff Tanner showing off the Aurora Audio stuff (including the GTM mixer!!). The WK Audio/ Steinberg ID controller will also be there. There will also be a new company introducing a revolutionary line of products. Audient will also be in our booth showing their new console and summing box (the SUMO). Make a stop by and ask for me and I'll make sure you get a t-shirt.. If I'm not there, ask for Songhead....

See ya there!

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Hey ya'll, yeah Hutch has been working on this new TNT 2-channel micpreamp all year. Just normal over-the-top from him, huh?

We just put up some new blah blah blah on it here on the new Manley TNT webpage.

I'll have a new photo up next week and we'll have (hopefully) have the first one to play with and listen to at the show, booth #601.

In Booth 602
1) we'll have some new gear never seen in the US before such as ADT Audio Germany, Quantec Yardstick Reverbs, Plexmaster Mastering CD Burner.....
2) We'll be passing out tickets to the 5x150 +2 subs ATC demo in (This is like the ATC rig Doug Sax bought for mastering). This is your chance to hear why the pros are secretly converting to ATC.
3) We'll be passing out invites to our "How to place a Microphone" Thurs/Fri/Sat night at Hyde Street Studios with Al Schmitt, Barry Rudolph and William Whitman. You can definitely learn something from these guys!
4) Mercury Recording Equipment will be running demos in Studio D at Hyde Street Friday and Saturday night. Come hear the only tube compressor that really sounds like a Fairchild, EQ's that really sound like Pultecs and more.....
5) The place to go WITHOUT the constant sales pitch. Hang out and learn from David Bock, Dirk Brauner, Geoff Daking, George Massenburg, Glenn Zelnicker (Z Sys), Peter Montessi (A Designs); folks from Quantec, ATC, SoundField, Drawmer and many more......
Hope to see you
Brad

I'm setting up room just a couple blocks away from the convention center to demo the MiniMain12. Hours are tentative, but it will most likely be 6 - 9pm on Friday and 5 - 9pm on Saturday. Wine, cocktails and snacks!

I'll post an update as soon as things firm up!

I was planning on attending AES this year, but water damage from Hurricane Jeanne left me with about $8,000 worth of remodeling work to do. Luckily, none of it in my studio.

So...word out to you lucky slutz who are going.... check out Rupert Neve Designs new products and report back. Take pictures

The Toft web site now says they hope to release it in 2005.

I've been waiting for this one too....I mean a 2 channel A-range EQ for $999

Yeah, sounds too good to be true.

On another note: If anyone see's a Stereo EQ with ONE set of controls (dedicated stereo or linkable dual mono's) PLEASE post some info's on it....or at least who the manufacture is.
