Analogue or Digital?

Cheers!
I wonder, whats the best? Go for a microphone pre-amp with 8 mic inputs (firewire) and get all eight tracks seperatly into comp. Then mix it digital. Or buy a mixing desk and mix it (at the mixing desk) and then send it to computer in a stereo-track?

Thanks!

BOTH!!!!!!! There is no better or worse only different.

You should record multi-channel if you can, and mix back to the computer, then BOUNCE the audio as an interleaved 16 bit 44.1K Red Book Audio CD stereo mix down.

You should mix however you feel comfortable; and whatever is best for the music, bottom line. This is different for ALL people.

Btw, what did you mean with "(You should record multi-channel if you can, and mix back to the computer, then BOUNCE the audio as an interleaved 16 bit 44.1K Red Book Audio CD stereo mix down.)"

What if my budget says stop with only one thing?

Then get the best multi-channel microphone preamp/AD converter you can find and make sure its right for the style of music you'll be recording, because you only get one chance to encode, so encode correctly!
