Rode K2 - appologies upfront :)

so how many of u slutz have a rode k2 in your closet now ??? who has used one and what are your credentials ??? what's it sound like compared to the usual slut favourites ( money is no object) and ( get the **** outa here... money is always an object)
i want to read about comparisons to soundelux family, neumann's gefells, akg's braun electric shavers, and the rest of the reachable and outa reach mic's .. manley, MBHO ,T.H.E, schoeps, BK's... oktava's, freakin neumann clones :wagner and the other few or so out there .. the ADK's the Royer modded sino , audio-technica, LOMO..other rode's ie: Classic II incl the Pat M mod ( the " custom Lundahl tranformer mod)...ADK/Marshall ...whatever tickles your fancy .... LD/SD ribbon dynamic...

before u guys nail me about character etc ... i wan to know about little league - major league baseball ... does this mic cut the mustard ??? regardless of the rode badge ( and dont let the sick ad's that rode has running influence u with mr freedman holding his vanilla cone) ...

also ... try and keep in mind the varios mic pre's and impedences u have used / heard it with .. this can play a huge role and ppl sometimes forget that it;s the pre and not the mic ... some mic's like certain pre's better than others ...

and yes i will go and hear it for myself ... but i cant compare to half the others i mentioned

then u can give it to me about .. application ... i want to know about CALIBRE ...

take care of yourselves ....and each other ....

I just picked one up - as well as a Vintech X73i to us it with. I still haven't spent a ton of time with it - but initial tests were very impressive.

I don't have much in my mic locker here anymore, but I've used most of the standards in the past (87, 414, 47 fet)..
can't compare really - since it's been a while - but I can say that with my quick tests... the vocal sat right into the mix nicely. Warm and present without being harsh.

At the price - it's almost a no-brainer to give it a try. I'd guess that it's quite a major step up from most mics in the 6-700 range.

i checked out your shoot-out toolskid ( very impressed). On its own the C12 VR sounded nicer to me ... but in a mix its another thing and the $ ratio ...is to consider ... also ... the VR apparently sounds nothing like the orig C12 but its nice to know the K2 is right up there with the best of em ...

who else is willing to admit they use/own/like one ???
