I think its really great. I made a few mods to it. I installed a switch to allow it to sustain infinately for doing drone-y stuff. Another switch was added to modify the glide time to zero, so that the full sequenced step-note plays (instead of the normal 50% duration). I changed the filter's range and snap a bit too. It can get pretty wacky very quick, and sometimes returning from a diversion can take a bit to figure out if you haven't been paying close attention to what you were tweaking. I pretty much always leave the bass boost switch on. The unit works great with guitar pedals and the sequencer is easy to adjust during a performance. It has been discontinued, and replaced with this unit: ![]() ...which strips away some features, and apparantly is a closer 'clone'. FWIW, I would much rather have the 777 than a 303. Thanks for the question, hope his helps. -daniel |

Good eye on the Waldorf, but it's a Microwave XT - I had a Q rack, foolishly sold it when I needed to pay a bill, and just recently added the Microwave XT...still waiting on one more rack to rack up the synth modules :-) The Blue thing with the faders is an Orban 672 "paragraphic" equalizer. Not as sweet sounding as an API or a Neve, but great for the ultra-surgical stuff.

I never used the slide show feature until today and it was fun looking at my own images. Just make sure you set the slideshow interval to 6 or 7. It cost me $2250 to build my home studio. Construction Materials = $600 5/8" Fire Code Sheetrock. 2"x 4"x 8' wooden studs. 2"x 6"x 8" wooden studs. A lot of Fibderglass Insulation. ArmStrong black floor tiles. My special mix paint color (I'm not telling no one how to make it). Drywall screws. Silicone caulk. Two quality Doors. Lights. 12 Black Floor Base and few other things I can't remember right now. Studio Furniture. One of my custom designs. Auralex Acoustics Treatments = $1650. 24 DST-LERND Bass Traps (in charcoal gray). 1 box of DST-R Diffusive Sound Tile Reflectors. Removed from studio. 1 box of DST-114s (in charcoal gray). 1 box of DST-422s (in charcoal gray). A box of 30 2" x 2"x 24" Cornerfills (in charcoal gray). A box of 4 12" x 12" x 12" Cornerfill Cubes (in charcoal gray). Two pairs of Mo-Pads for my studio monitors. 1 box of 2 inch Pyramids (in purple). 1 box of 4 inch Pyramids (in purple). It was removed from the studio, but now used in my entertainment room. The foam was purchased for my studio, but I also use some of it for my entertainment room too. I took down all of the 4" purple Pyramid foam and replaced it with 2" purple Pyramids. The 4" foam made my small studio a little dry. "Blue Bear Sound" gave me some good advice to consider on another forum about my studio and the changes a may notice after I get used to my new space. He was right about the room being a little on the dry side even though I thought everything was fine at the time. I need to update my photos so people could see how the room looks now with 8 more bass traps and 2" purple Pyramids. All the corners from floor to ceiling have bass traps now, and boy do it sound nice. I also took down the white diffusers from the back wall and replaced it with 2" purple Pyramids. Now that I have the 2" Pyramids the room sounds much better than before. I could hear the high-frequency sounds much better and the room sounds more bright. The Pyramids also act as diffusers so that's good for my small studio too. Peace. RINGO Peace. RINGO

front kit...... so that's it folks, should give a decent idea of my tracking studio. I have another smaller live room with a nice and big CR on top, but that's not quite turned into a studio yet as I'm a one man show so far... I just use it for editing, compasing and overdubs at times. Pehaps I'll merge w/ someone in the future because I have room for two studios, while I am but one man. |

Some vague shots of our attic studio (not much slutty gear to drool over, so no closeups) No separate control room - I track with headphones |

Here's my semi-slutty setup. As you can see, there a Verona 400 desk with a rack of EQ and compressors below it, and off to the side, a rack of synths, preamps, EQ, and a Venice submixer.

Hey Clueless... how do you like those Midas racks? Pres and EQs?

Clueless.... Umm.....lovely studio.....but I think a pair of distressors and the GML gear disqualifies you for the project studio... kidding.... How do you like the 8900? |

| Lives for gear | Midas Racks
To be honest, the Midas racks are somewhat overkill. These things are made to deal with any live situation, and I don't often encounter many opportunities in my studio to use more than a tiny twist on the knobs. OTOH, when I first bought the ISA 430s (I have both the original and Mk II) I thought "dang, these don't go very extreme!" but over time, I'm preferring the light gear ratio on the ISAs compared with the Midas. The Midas preamp? No flies on that. Bottom line: I am happy to use the Midas units for sound shaping (bass and drums), but for voice EQ, the 430s have become my preference. |

| Lives for gear | GML 8900
The GML 8900 is perhaps the wildest piece of gear I own. Wild in the sense that one can dial in all sorts of compression and never hear it. Thus, it is possible to do all sorts of clandestine work. For compressors you can hear, I use the C2 and the distressors, but to lift something up without anybody knowing it, the GML 8900 is, literally, the secret weapon. P.S. Don't tell anybody! |

Yeah...I know Just wanted to see what you thought of the piece..........seems you feel the same way as I do....... Gotta get one......it's killing me not having one.. The thing I love the most about it is that you can comp without "hearing" it.....I hate compressors that pump and breath a lot....it's irritating...........

My home studio. No, there's no acoustical treatment. Somehow it sounds fine. The photos are not exactly "atmospheric"- crappy and digital- but you get the idea. I'm looking to move all this into a real room with an SSL or a Neve,
so if anyone knows of such a place in L.A. that might benefit from all this outboard
and isn't constantly booked solid, please let me know. |
