upgrading my AT condenser...$500-$700

Have an AT4033a. and was thinking about getting a nicer LDC with multiple patters. $500-700 range (new or used)

I was looking at some used Shure KSM44, a lot of people suggest the AT4050 but I heard that the 4033a was very similar sounding just without the selectable patterns.

I currently use re20 and bdm260 for vocals. Would use the new LDC for vocals too, and for guitar and OH/room mic.

I don't think you could go wrong with either of those mics, I have the 4050 though and would recommend it. They can be found used for $350-$400

You can get a new AKG C414BXLS for around $650 on eBay. I got one from Jim's Music and like it a lot. Much cheaper than I had seen it elsewhere.

I have a KSM44 for sale! Ha! In the classifieds!

But seriously, its a great all around mic that refuses to sound bad, and usually sounds really good on most things. If I had 1 nice mic in that $ range, it would probably be that one. The Shure company know how to make mics that work well on everything.

PS, I much prefer the KSM 44 to the Jim Williams modded 414 B-ULS I had. I found it much more useful on more sources.
