wood on walls

Slightly OT, but I'll give it a shot here any way, as I reckon that many of you have recorded in similar rooms.

I'm planning on covering the walls in my live room with wood. At the moment, the walls are bare concrete, and as you can imagine, the room ambience is terrible.

My question is - what are the general preferences on doing this?

Should I cover he entire wall area, should the wood strips be put up in any symmatrical design or can I just start hammering?

I'm planning on putting up this kind: http://www.olt.dk/Katalog/raoghovlet...filbradder.htm

I'm a bit lost on this - but one thing I'm sure of - me wants the wood sound:)

Cheers, Lasso.

Lots of ANY hard surfaces (wood included) can give you BIG trouble in small rooms.

Early refleticve crapola -

I've experienced a great large room ruined by the instalation of an "all wood" ceiling.

Do a google on helmholtz resonators. it basically a wooden slat wall with absorption behind the slats. there are very simple equations that are used to find the standing wave frequency in your room and then a followong equation which determines how far apart to space the slats and the wood from the absorption. That will get you some of the best results.
