Ramsa WR-8616 Help!!!

Once again, gentlemen, I need to humbly ask you for your help.

I got my hands on an absolutely beautiful sounding Ramsa WR-8616 board. I sent it in for some TLC and to have a few stereo modules replaced with WU-8001s (mono, switched freqs). The tech called me back today saying he can't get the 8001s to work with the board and can't do much without the schematics. I searched all over the place for the info and couldn't find it anywhere.

Hence, I would really appreciate if you guys could post/send me a link to the schematics of the board. As to the 8001s (the rest are 8101s and they work fine) I could swear I've seen those on the 8616. Does anyone here have any experince with these?

Any input would be highly appreciated. Thank you guys in advance.

Ramsa

Hey there,

Yeah, I'm away from home at moment, just picked up the desks and manual. The uploader to my site is playing up.

No problem to email you, what is your email address?

Cheers, Mike

It looks like this thread has been dead for a while. But I'm going to try my luck here and see if I can find any help.

I purchased a WR 8616 this last spring, but a number of tours and such has kept me from really ripping it open and getting it studio ready. I decided this week was the week. Started pulling out old channels one by one to clean and lube the faders and pots. It's a really solid looking console. The more I work on it, the more excited I am.

Down to brass tacks (i think my grandma used to say that?) The mixer came with no power supply. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron, and have a myriad of transformers laying around so I"m going to build my own (vs buying one of the two on eBay that are priced for close to what I payed for the board (which will probably need a rebuild anyway)).

Does anyone who has this board or any other similar ramsa know the pinout for the power connector on the back?

The instruction manual, so generously provided by studio139 tells all the required voltage and current draw. And even tells which pin's are which voltage. But there's no diagram. SO i could guess that "pin 1" is the top left according to the order we read in. But guessing is a dangerous game.

Any ideas?

Picture of Ramsa WR 8616 Power Connector

I'm officially a moron. I took a pic to post on here... and in my pic I realized the pins are labeled....

Hope the world had room for one more idiot.

I promise I'm getting better mom...

Yeah. Anyone? From what I've read. Panasonic's larger modular consoles, like the wr 8616 and the t820 were "Overbuilt" meaning they already put pretty great OP amps, and other componets. But I'd still be interested to know if there's any fun to be had with a soldering Iron and a Ramsa.

Anyone ever re-capped one? I fear mine may need it. Looks pretty original.

An ESR meter will tell you which ones need it. Most likely its just the caps near the transformer, it's unlikely the others are old enough or have had enough juice to cook the dielectric.

Tubetastic - did you succeed in your power supply build way back then? I've just acquired an 8616 with no power supply and am curious to see how you did it.

Thanks!

Well, if any of you guys decide to give up on your 8616 projects, I'm sure lots of us would be happy to take those 8101's off your hands. I know I would.
