Recall Sheets

Hi All

Some of you know about the software program I have been trying to write in my free time. This year has been so busy that I haven't had much free time, but I promised myself I would spend most of the summer working on it and have turned down some pretty high profile work to get it done, but I think it will be worth it.

In the meantime I figured I might be able to help people out by making some printable PDF file recall sheets for people and put them on a web site. It seems a waste to me that I have the stuff in there for the program but sitting there unused when people could probably make use of it.

I uploaded about 150 some recall sheets already, but have a lot more to put up and I will be putting them up as I go along. And if there are any particular ones that people are looking for, let me know. I am hopping I can get access to gear from people to take pictures of. The more I can get access to, the more I can post up. While the PDFs are mechanical drawings, they are based on real pictures and I use the real pictures in the software program and can then make these PDFs for people. For the summer I will be in the Santa Cruz area, so if anyone in this area, or San Fran or nearby wants sheets made for their gear, let me know. Also, if I can get enough people that want to help from LA, I should be going back and forth a lot so I could maybe set up a day and work with a couple of people. That is if anyone is interested, I'm not sure.

Anyways, the address is:

Teaboy Audio Recall Sheet Homepage!

There's a link at the lower left for the printable recall sheets. Please excuse the hokey website, it's just a temporary server running at the studio until things are far enough along to warrant a pro web server and webdesigner, etc.

I hope this helps someone out!

Well, I wish you the best of luck - though I am not sure how you are going to make a profit out of this.

I am a strong believer, however, in on-line software and perhaps there might in future be a way for users to create their own templates for you to include in your system. After all, there are thousands of models of outboard kit and it would be impossible to have them all if you alone have to create them all.

I Love it!!!!!!
I did this kinda thing for my gear with my Mac IIC years ago......i'm so glad someone is doing this now, and with real pictures.

Make it so you can have a flow chart of gear for mastering where you chain gear together....... you can have them small sized in signal path order, then when you click on one it opens the recall sheet.

I say go for it! Be the first and do it better than anyone could, you've done a great job so far. This industry needs people like you and what you are doing. I'm In.

please make it work on the iPhone, otherwise I'm going to have to get a laptop to do this!

Come to think of it, that's the main downside - it NEEDS a wireless internet connection and a laptop to make it totally useable.

Thanks for the dyna-mite recall sheet too - that's one of the few bits of gear I've not got a sheet for! Anyone done a 301 chorus echo?!

You mean there are people out there, who don't have wi-fi and a laptop?

well, not the wifi so much...but I don't own a laptop. Can't afford a reasonable one, and can't quite bring myself to buy a nasty cheap PC one!

What an awesome thing to do! I'd be happy to download a beta version when ready. I'm tired of drawing this stuff out by hand (signal chains and settings). Keeping a diary on my sessions is cool but...

The sheets use a form of XML, so creating new ones is as easy as making a web page. If you can make a basic web page (just talking about basic HTML), you can make your own. And part of the scheme will depend on some people making their own and sharing them.

The idea isn't so much to make a profit as it is a side project to make a contribution to the community. Of course it would be nice if it can sustain itself, and I have gotten enough people asking for it to pretty much justify the cost. The only tricky til now part is getting the free time.
