Nice 2 channel AD/DA converter?

I'm looking for a nice AD/DA converter because I'm going to start using tape for some things and don't want to ruin my sound totally going into my firepod's a/d conversion. Trying to stay under 800 dollars (used). Thanks

You probably won't find nice conversion under $800 even used...my opinion would be that you start to get nice conversion with a rosetta and then up from there...that would be starting around $1500 minimum..on second thought maybe the apogee duet might work...I haven't used it but it's apogee and seems pretty OK.

I've heard good things about the RME ADI-2.

duet sounds fantastic..

fireface 400 might fit the bill

used fireface 800

none of these will touch the HEDD/lavry/Mytec range of convertors though... but should be pretty decent.

You can probably do more for your sound by getting better mics and pres, unless you have really high end gear. But even if you do, $800 AD/DA wont do much I bet.

If you read my original post I said I needed a good converter to bounce my track from tape to my DAW. I'm not worried about getting more mics or pres right now

mytek stereo 96 can be had for around $700-750 used. That would probably be your best bet in this price range...

Maybe the Apogee Mini-me. I remember it being pretty solid and the guts became the starter of the Rosetta and even the 16x, I believe
