Track Color in PT 7.4

Ok, I'm going crazy and I can't find an answer. This is small, but very annoying.
When you add tracks to a session, why are the first 8 tracks blue? You know, that blue square? How do you turn that off? Thanks for any help.

Do you have a control surface? ProTools indicates which tracks are currently being used by a control surface by using those coloured squares. It works in banks of eight...each bank of 8 has a different colour.

No, in the edit window the first 8 tracks always have a blue square around where the track name is typed. I can't get that to go away.

It's not the track color itself, it the box surrounding the track name.

This is the answer, but it is weird that it is showing up without you having a control surface.

try changing the pref for edit window follows..... I think track selection or similar.

I think the banks of 8 blue boxes went away when I changed this.
I'm not at the studio now, so this is from memory....

I'm using 7.3 so maybe it's a 7.4 thing but I've never seen tracks outlined in PT like that before.

This is what's going on. There's no way to get rid of them if you have a control surface hooked up, or even one of those single-fader PreSonus doo-dads.

Try going into the Peripherals menu to make sure you haven't accidentally activated a control surface. Even though you don't have one, it may still be confusing your system into thinking you do.
