The right verb

Hi Slutz.

I'm finding that I'm never able to call on the right reverb at the moment and I was wondering if you slutz can point me in the direction of a nice lush sounding reverb like the one on Ray Lamontagnes "till the sun turns black".

I have TL space, and the omnipresent D-verb as plugs and a TC M-One.

I'm thinking around the €1000/$1500 for a standalone unit.

Any suggestions?

A

Are sure that you need a new reverb unit? Or that you have to improve your skills?
I had the same problem too for a long time. Guess what; it was me who did the shit not the reverb unit.

Setting the right reverb is not as easy as people think.
And if your room is not treated it is hard to hear the difference between the reverb on your recording and the rooms reverb your are sitting in.
This mostly ends up in overdoing the reverb.

Before you guess to buy a HW-Unit I highly recommend you to demo this one:

Thanks for the reply. You are right, setting a reverb is certainly not just a case of dialing up a preset. And I am always learning.

However I find that my TC M-one is quite metalic sounding and the TL Space doesn't cover all the bases. The less said about the DVerb the better!

I'd like a hardware unit that won't break the bank but will cover the lush aspect I often look for.

I say hardware because I'd like to take some cpu load off my mac.

That song sounds like real ambience, not a box.

I like the PCM70 alright, and the presets are pretty good.

I also like the PCM60, because of its simplicity (and price). But it's not super flexible. For me, that's a good thing - you try it, and it works or doesn't. Unfortunately, like the plug you own, it won't cover all your needs.
