Thread Starter | Best carrier to ship gear internationally?
What is the best (cheapest and reliable way) to send a package (music gear) from the US to EU or other country? USPS is cheap but it is kind of scary because their tracking is not good at all. Fedex is ridiculously expensive; I could buy airfare for what it costs to ship Fedex. Transit time is not important to me, just that it get there and that I am able to track it and that I am insured.

Bax Global/Schenker seems to be cheapest. I think I received stuff using them once without problems. UPS is more expensive, but has worked fine for me. Above all I can go and pick up the package locally, maybe that simplifies things. DHL has the worst record with me. I have several stories about how they have messed up things. The last time I had to stop a chauffeur through DHL main office over his mobile phone. He denied having my package, but he did. That was the fourth delivery attempt of that package, wrong dates, wrong address, no failed delivery message left ... you name it. |
