Elastic Microphone Covers

Hi GS,

I have a small DIY recording set-up. In this set-up everybody's gotten tired of putting up mics and pulling them down over and over again.

I'd like to leave them up so everything's more turnkey, but my room attracts dust a good deal. So, my solution is to get plastic bags and elastic bands to protect them for nights at a time while they're up so they don't become victim to dust.

I was just curious if anybody knew of and elastic bags that could be purchased for this use so I don't have to ghetto rig mic covers this way.

Does anybody know of something like this?

Drink up dude!

I throw a nice velvety crown royal bag over my ldc when I'm not using it....and the whiskey was delicious. If you drink half as much as me you should be able to collect about fifty of them in a year or so. - Tom

Heh, Tom, I drink everything like Coca-Cola. I'm the freaking Soupking for God sakes. If beer came in socks I'd be fine, but life just isn't that convenient (which is probably a good thing).

I can't touch whiskey or...I can't say much more cuz, well, I like being here.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.

Someone posted a response to a similar question on another thread. It was pointed out that a condenser mic suddenly attracts dust (or fiber particles from Crown Royal bags) every time the power is shut off. Because of that, they used the plastic baggy thing before shutting down.

If you don't want to use plastic bags an elastics, get nylon drawstring bags. Your local outdoors store will have something.
