Grace Design m101

Hi,
there isnīt a Grace Designīs dealer in my country so I have to make a blind
order.I have been reading a lot about this preamp.I think is going to sound
good in acoustic guitars and vocals but I also want to record bass(very important).
I would like to hear your opinions for a preamp to record mainly bass, acoustic
guitars(line and micro)and vocals.I use RME fireface800 into DP5.1 and Iīm
not happy with firefaceīs pres and only budget for one pre.
Thank you!

The Grace is pristine. No color at all really. It is hard - like rapping your knuckles against the shiny enamel paint of a brand new kitchen stove. I always had great luck with acoustic and bass. I used two and stereo mic'd my Taylor through two Senn e614 SDCs. Really got every detail.

Not so much luck with vocals myself. Mostly because it is almost too pure. I think it will depend on the vocalist. Some may not like the hard light of day gleaming on their vocal track.

I personally love the Grace 101 and think it is one of the best values out there.

YMMV

Thank you!
I realy need a very transparent pre because I use great acoustic guitars like
Larrivee OM10,Taylor K22 and DellīArt gypsy guitar. My basses are Sadowsky,
Zon fretless,Lakland and Alembic.Usualy my instruments sound always great
no matter the pre or studio but know Iīm going to begin to record a very personal project in my homestudio and I realy want a very transparent preamp.
My best regards.

Agree... I always put a urei 1178 after my grace for vocals, it's really too clean for pop/rock vox.. Does sound good though..

Then again, i have an rme quadpre which are the same pre's as your fireface i suppose? and i don't hear a lot of difference between those and the grace.
