What is the best way to bypass 003 convertors going into pro tools?

I have a 003 and want to completely bypass the 003 conversion. I am getting a lavry black AD-10 and want to connect to my 003 via spidf. Will this bypass any conversion from the 003?

yes. if you use either the S/PDIF or the ADAT optical inputs, you will
bypass the 003's A/D converter.

Common misconception. The optical i/o WILL allow 96KHz, but only when set to SPDIF mode. When the optical is in SPDIF mode, sadly, the coaxial SPDIF no longer operates.

The advantage to using optical SPDIF is that toslink cable does not transmit ground. Ground loops over digital cables do happen in some situations and can interfere with transmission. You can use a short length of it and it will be fine. Most likely a coax SPDIF cable will also be fine, but if not, it's good to know.

The AD10 will only offer its distortion features at 88.2 or 96K. It should be run on internal sync when in use for best quality.
