Tonight

"tonight" ... what's up with this word! I can't explain why but almost every lyrics has this word in it and there's something special about it. I don't if it's the nostalgy that this word brings or something else.. I can't put my finger on it.. Could someone tell me why this word always fit at the end of phrase or a chorus? Is it the phonetic or the number of syllabe? Always make me laugh when I hear a hit with this word..

It's a nice sounding word. Its open in the "to" end and closes off nicely at the "night" end, a bit like a hi-hat when you give it a hit and then close it. That makes it a perfect word for the end of a phrase. Also, it subconsciously make one think about sex!

Hahaha, the Raspberries !! We used to go see them play around here many time while I was growing up...they still live about ten-fifteen minutes from me today !! They used to play at a place within walking distance from my house !!! Not even 500 feet away !! Thanks for the memories !!

One of the stronger bands I've seen.

Genius too, once you get past the teeny-bop lyrics.

I think the word tonight has an immediacy about it. It puts you in the present and is definative as opposed to words like 'someday'. I would rather hear "I'm going to sleep with you tonight" than "I'm going to sleep with you someday".

Agreed, but what about "today" then?
