Here is my simple site: Dockyard Studios - We make records

I've just overhauled it, mainly HTML based with a few flash elements... some of which may be folks pet peeves... but hey... at least I don't resize your browser

Not many/any pics of the studio as I'm waiting for some new shots to be taken as it has changed quite a bit since the last batch of pics.

Cheers

Matt

Website finished

Hey all, I just wanted to share with you the final website.

sonicpalacemusic.com

I used alot of your suggestions and loosely modeled it after a few sites you posted that I liked.
Keep in mind, this is a low budget site.
It was suppose to cost $500.00 but the webmaster took so long he cut the price to $300.00. I gave him $350.00 because I thought he did a nice job.
Let me know what you think!

That's a whole lotta site for $350.00

I would have charged AUD$1500.00 minimum

No one likes sites that make noise.

Our website used to do that. I'm so happy we changed it.

Nice site, though.

It took so long that he dropped the price??? Isn't that kind of backwards? ;)

Anyway, looks pretty good.

I meant he made me wait for several months while he finished off other sites.
That’s why I got a discount.
I was supposed to have it done in 3 days and it took a couple of months.
Thanks for the reply!

I was thinking there could be an option to play the music instead of it starting first. Is that what you meant?

Some people want flash, others don't. Generally it just comes down to search results. In this case, search results weren't a priority, so we were able to have some fun.

For worst site? This thing is so annoying to use and a tremendous time waster. Furthermore, it WILL NOT work at all on a mobile device.

No. Even most power pc macs can BARELY do Flash.

If you want your clients to see your sites, don't do Flash.

Imagine someone is telling the lead singer from White Snake about your studio in a bar. Mr. White Snake pulls out his expensive iPhone to check it out, but when he types in the URL, he gets nada. What sort of impression does that make? It looks unprofessional. Don't pay a designer to wank out the next animated classic for your business. Make it clean, clear, and compliant and your customers will be happy.

there are a few rules of internot etiquette which should ALWAYS be followed:

1) do NOT resize my browser window under any circumstances
2) do NOT play music/sounds without asking permission
3) do NOT open pop-up windows under any circumstances
4) do NOT waste my time with flash bullshit

if you must resort to flash-wanking then at least give ppl the option to ignore it.. give us a web standards compliant css2 site so we can actually find some useful information in an acceptable timeframe without being assaulted by bullshit glitter designed to keep ppl with attention deficit disorder glued to the screen like cocaine monkeys

terrible
I tend to agree. . . but the dog is kinda cool. although if it was a site I had to go to frequently it would get annoying fast!

The downside it's flash of course... but...

Thank you!!

We subcontracted it out to a friend of ours. Hes got a great eye for making things look slick and expensive. Our main marketing angle is the 'boutique' look and feel of the studio. We did think about getting an html alternative as well but it didnt happen in the end. Most people seem to comment that it loads pretty quick for a flash site so we are happy to stick with it.
