Do Spidf to AES cables exist?

I want to but a Lavry Black AD 10 for my 003/002(havent decided yet) and since the digi's have no aes input I need a convertor cable. Where can I find an Aes female to spidf cable of the highest quality? Thanks!

It's sometimes possible to wire pin 2 on the xlr to the pin of the RCA jack, and Pin 1 to the shield...the data formats are close enough that it can work. Technically though, you should use a 110ohm to 75ohm transformer, or a format converter. The digi might not like the extra level of the AES connector, or it could also balk at the format difference. The format converter is the safest way to go.

Yea...making the impedance match up is important. For some, less critical users running less length, perhaps, its a non issue and simply using something like the Mogami Digital XLR [M,F] to RCA will do the trick [if under 6 FT!!!] Also; sometimes there can be sub-code mismatches [very rarely] between AES and SDPIF, but not too often with newer devices.

My advice is to go with the Nuetrik Digital Audio transformer [when converting 75 Ohm to 110 Ohm and visa versa], with a solid quality SPDIF cable so as to maintain bit and sample transmission transparency between devices.

I'm pretty sure Lavry makes and sells the exact cable you're looking for.

for short length interconnects, the characteristic impedance mismatch should not affect the signal at all. when I was in the same situation and wanted to be on the safe side, I purchased the Canare adapters, which do the same thing as the Neutrik ones.

If you skip the box and know how to soldier, I was able to get that mogami digital cable for about $.45 US/foot. That might've been because of my relationship with my local dealer, but for digital that doesn't seem unrealistic. Good luck!
