Is incredibly buggy. Crashes w/ Melodyne, won't find Sound Soap... If you're thinking of rolling forward right now, DONT. Half ranting, half informing.

C4 is not 'incredibly buggy'. Do you have details on your system, what version of Cubase 4 are you updating from and to, what steps have you taken, etc. Herwig |

Hey John... nice studio and sounds BTW. I feel you, man. You obviously have a nice setup going so I imagine it's pretty frustrating basing it around Cubase 4. I have had the same problem for a few years. Have you ever checked into PT LE? In my experience it is much more stable, especially when you need it to be... like when important clients are around. Just a thought. The only other thing you can do is purposefully always put yourself behind one major release as the sad-but-true business model of Steinberg is to shuck all beta testing off onto the paying customer (much like Microsoft). Whether it's fair or not, or the only practical way to run a software company or not, I won't debate here, but it still sucks for us professionals with quality in mind. Best bet is to stay with 4 until 6 comes out, and then you will know that everyone else has dealt with the bugs and updates/hotfixes with 5. Good luck!

I'm running Cubase 4.1.3 on OS Leopard, on a new Mac Pro Something is wrong, not sure what exactly. I've repaired/checked disk permissions, checked for updates, everything. It is probably a C4/Leopard problem at this point. Going to go back to the previous C4 update...it worked pretty well. |

Hey John yeah it might be, I used to run cubase on a mac way back in the day when OSX first came out, had all kinds of issues with SX 2 etc, remember dissapearing buttons etc?? anyway i know its much better now but on my PC cubase is rock solid, same version etc i think mac has more issues with cubase than windows which could be a first in the audio world anyway, good luck with it! |
