Cubase SX 3 announced!

SX 3 was announced by Steinberg, check out steinberg.net to see the new features. Extremely impressive if you are a Steiny fan.

Sweet, delay compensation for outboard gear and freeze of audio tracks with insert effects. This means you can freeze outboard gear tracks as well and more easily use a good reverb like the rumour on many tracks with ease. That is way cool, and what I really wanted to see.

Has anyone here had problems with Cubase 2.0 on the Mac? Im Very interested in Version 3.Does it run better on PC? All i have to say is Digidesign is going to have to step it up BIG TIME! With Logic 7,Cubase SX3,and Sonar the Bar has been raised very high,The SX3 new Features are Incredible (and im not even a Cubase user!).Check out the videos on Steinbergs web site. DIGIDESIGN i hope you are Watching and Listening!!!!

The StudioVision-esque parts-based arranging sounds cool. I've missed that feature a bunch after giving up SV.

IMHO Steinberg could benefit a little from slowing down and working out the kinks before completely redesigning the'yre product every year. SX was still buggy as hell and they bumped up to 2, now that i'm almost comfortable in 2 they're changing it again!

And then there's the whole N3 controversy(why SX3 comes out before N3...bla bla bla).

I'm thinking samp8 is looking good...but I'm a long time cubase/nuendo user.

As someone who bought into N as a music pro only to have SX end up identical, I get a little cranky. But the upgrade looks amazing if it is not buggy.

I too have thought about the Samplitude thing, but I can't live without lanes- could editing be more elegant?

I'm really looking forward to the warp and the i/o latency compensation as well.

I'm completely not looking back on having left Digidesign.

When recording, for example, vocals, in Nuendo/SX, takes are stacked. In lanes mode, all takes can be seen, one above the other, on the one track. Group them, cut into phrases, and use the mute tool to turn them on and off to quickly build a comp. Add to that the volume on each region and the envelope control on each region, and it is ridiculous how fast you can build comps that would take forever or a gazillion tracks in any other program.

I absolutely love this feature. Cubase SX is a programming Gem (not that other audio programs are not). IMHO audio applications continue to lead quite a few innovations in user interface design.

there are now some videos of Cubase SX3 on the www.steinberg.net website.

they have included Logic style screensets and Acid style loops stretching, looks like it will be a killer app!
