Audio Interface Advice

I dont know what kind of interface i am going to get so far, but here is what i need. I have an acoustic electric, electric, and acoustic guitars and i want to record with any of these guitars and then vocals later. If it is not necessary I can take my guitars out of the interface and then plug in a mic to save money on multiple inputs or are they different inputs? I dont know. I just need a really good interface that will sound excellent but doesn't have a ton of inputs/outputs. Can anyone recommend an interface that is small with good preamps built in or another small one that sounds good with added preamps? Thanks

Are you on Mac OS or Windows OS?

If on Mac OS....perhaps the Apogee Duet is going to be the best option out there for a small footprint device with a LARGE sound quality.

Apogee Duet Look A Likes

I really like the apogee duet, but are there others like it that will have the great sound quality and mic preamps. I am most interested in the vocal mic pre amps and not having a lot of inputs. I dont need them. The interface itself can be bulky and ugly as long as it sounds good and isn't ridiculously expensive.

AMS Neve - Products - New Classic - 4081

how about a mic pre that has an optional interface? 4 in / 4 out. expensive? not for 4x 1081, but more than an Ensemble. not even out yet, so it may be a dog, but it looks good on paper.

Huh? Apogee Duet has the best mic preamps and sound quality in that price range.........for $495 it's almost a steal.

I really like my RME fireface 800 - maybe the 400 model would suit your needs?
