Did you ever experience this Phenomena?

Interesting.
I am mixing in the 6th year by now and loved reverb on the boring tracks all the time.
Today I was mixing and was board by the reverb itself the first time....

It was no fun to choose the right one...all reverbs sounded boring and the same to me.

Never had this before....

Reverb is like icing (or frosting) on a cake. A little bit gives it extra sparkle, but if you use too much or put it on everything it will make you sick.

on the one hand, it sounds like the Seven Year Itch - maybe all you need is a new reverb.

On the other hand, there is no cure for boring music. Reverb is like a painkiller or a decongestant. It may ease the symptoms, but it will not cure the disease.

If you just use stock presets or plugs, sooner or later you *will* get to this point.

However if you learn what each of the parameters do and program your own verbs for each occasion, you will get fresh sounds and new vibey "spaces" each time. Keeps things interesting and avoids the point where things start to pall.

I do this already and think that the reverbs are boring for the first time.
I know what the parameters do..... so I think it is some kind of aha light bulb moment that reverb is not taking me to the point what I expect anymore.

Anyway it is a total new experience for me.

Hmmn. I'd be curious to know what reverbs you are using then? Maybe you need to look further afield (or invest in a higher end unit - or even a plate or chamber).

Yes, perhaps it is a problem with expectations. Or with over-use of reverb. Like Led says, too much verb for the material can get on the sickly side.
