Amp Placement - Isolating Guitar

I normally have my guitar amp in the corner (caddycorner) i am now thinking this may be a bad idea.

Is in the corner OK or does it resonate against that corner too much?

How do you guys set up your amps?

Away from a wall?
With acoustic materials around it? Behind it?
Is against a flat wall OK?

IT DOESN'T F'ING WORK!!!

I want it to sound natural, but I also would like it to sit in one spot and not have to move it all over the place.

If it sounds good coming from the amp, then it's in the right place, you just have to capture it somehow. There's no wrong here, but YOU should try all the variations you suggested in YOUR room, record them and listen to the results.

Sometime I want more room, sometimes I use an Isolation Cab if I need something super tight and in your face. It depends on what you're going for. Half the fun IMO is hearing what different set-ups sound like, even if it's not right for the moment, you now have it in your memory bank for such a time when that sound is needed.
Have fun!
