UAD Latency

I have just recently got a UAD-1e card and have been experimenting. I realize every time I put on a compressor the sound really distance or it is actually delayed in the mix. Even with the verbs. Or when I slap a comp on the drum buss it is cleary behind and the delay really stands out. Why is this happening?? I have a Quad core comp with plenty of power.

What DAW s/w are you using?

Some s/w doesn't provide automatic delay compensation and you have to manually insert a pdc plug on tracks that don't have uad plugs.

Least I think that's how you get around it. I use Reaper which doesn't have this limitation

I think the proper technical term is PDC or Plugin Delay Compensation.

Correct me if Im wrong though!

This is exactly what is happening. If you are using PTLE use the time adjuster plugins on all tracks WITHOUT any UAD plugs, F.I. if you have the 1176ln on a track find out the delay caused by this plug by double clicking below the fader twice. This will give you the delay in samples.

Now adjust all other tracks by this amount. Say its 1084 samples, insert Time adjuster on each non-uad track with the adjuster reading 1084.

This should bring everything in line.

or just move the track with UAD back so you don't have to mess with all tracks ........or just get Logic 8 for $400.00 bucks and it figures out and moves everything all by itself.

Okay, I saw a plug in called Delay comp from the UAD line and looked into that. Should I use time adjuster instead? So basically if i have 3 uad plugs on one track and 1 on all the rest I just have see which uad track is causing the most delay and adjust all the samples to that on the Delay comp plug in?
