cable tester is a great idea... although you only need one.

when my mates don't know what to get me they just throw in a pack of guitar strings with some beer... you ALWAYS need strings and they all seem to know which ones i use

-SPL Meter
-Nice pair of slippers (Comfortable footwear always makes my sessions more enjoyable)
-Maybe a used Oktava 219 (if you're lucky to find one on the cheap) on ebay for future modding purposes.

That's all I can think of.. haha.
