Universal Audio 6176 best channel strip from the company?

I first owned a M610, and I really like the preamp on vocals, then I got a good deal on a LA-610, and I like the compressor on bass but I'm not loving it on vocals, plus not being able to use the compressor independently is a real bummer.

Is the 6176 the best channel strip UA has to offer? Does the 1176 in the 6176 stand up to the 1176N?

Had great results on bass but the 610 pre is great for softening detail on the top end and it isnt right for everything...LIKE MOST GEAR. I would recommend that its finding the perfect combination of singer to microphone to preamp to comp.If you like your vocals with more forward presence...look to mabie API>1176.

I got a 6176 and for the right voice and application it is hard to beat. But then again if I had access to other vintage gear, I might not be so adept to pick up a 6176 as much. None the less its a great piece. I paid 1800 for it new couple years back! Now its like 2400!

well you have the La2a type comppressor now .If you get the 6176 you'll have the 1176 type.I'd say you should have both

can the compressor side of a 6176 be linked with an 1176LN to make a stereo compressor? i seem to remember an external accessory that allowed two 1176's to be linked together... anybody know about this?

6176 is great . U can find a better preamp but it will cost u more 2k . I have 2 of 6176 and I'm thinking to buy a nervous preamp with a big gain .

You have to be very careful of the headroom on the pre side but once you find the sweet spot its an amazing combo!

Yes, it has the same linking as the stand alone 1176LN. The accessory is called the 1176-SA adapter.

I think the 6176 is definitely the nicest UA channel strip...!

can the compressor in the 6176 be used without running thru the built-in pre?

for example, can I run a great river into the compression side of the 6176?
