| In Los Angeles, studio builder I would be grateful if some of you LA folks can recommend a reasonably priced contractor who deals specifically with studio buildouts. As usual, trying to find honest people who do good work. (Just had to throw that in for some of you to have something to chuckle about.) This is for a non-profit organization that plans to lease an existing studio buildout. They need a professional estimate on these issues: - installing a sliding glass door for an iso room - installing small dual-pane glass in iso room - assess how/if the existing room within a room might be made less vulnerable to sounds from the building's AC compressors on the roof - affordable but effective flooring options for a 27x17 live room, currently unfinished concrete ...and perhaps a second expert to assess and address the wiring interconnects and tie lines from control to live, iso, 1 and iso 2. I appreciate any contacts, referral, or suggestions you can offer. Thanks. |

| Hey man, My neighbor helped me with my control room wall. It's not a huge deal. It's brass tacks, costing me maybe...$3-4000 including labor/materials when all said and done. My example's rather rough as I just wanted a wall to separate noise from my monitors. Nothing soundproof so I won't share. Granted, if curious, I'm happy to show you receipts, photos, etc. However, regarding his own room, he's built out his own studio control room and tracking booth in his rehearsal room which you can check out here. It's really impressive, and it's sound is tight. I ask to show my friends every chance I get: MySpace UK That's why I hired him. ![]() If you ask his help, just tell him Alex sent you if you ask so I know I'm helping a brotha' out. I can probably get a hands on show and tell if interested. Peace, -soup
