Gtars - Active Or Passive?

Hey guys,
Im currently playing a new Les Paul custom, with a 490 in the neck, and a 500T in the bridge. The output is great, but i still would like to try something else in the bridge (then put the 500T in the neck). I've tried seymour ... was ok, but i want shit loads of output!

so of course im thinking of EMG, but i hear 90% of models are quite muddy - which is another thing id really like to stay away from ... i know there are tonnes a cheapy companies doing their own thing and producing some amazing pickups ... Im playing through a H&K WarpX with sovtek tubes, so im playing through an amp that really respects good pickups.

So for the most output everyone agrees on active? if so throw some brand/models/sites at me :)

Cheers guys.

If you can wait for them (six weeks because they are made to order) and don't mind the price Q-Tuners are incredible,

I put a set on my Strat and increased the audible tone range at least 30%.

And they are passive.

AND when I switch between the Fender humbucker and the Q-Tuner the volume increases at least 20% plus you can select how much output you want when you order them

someone was telling me about a dimarzio pup that had an insane output. i forget the name . . .

I have a steinberger w/ active emg's and it isn't muddy at all (quite bright actually), but just different. can't explain it any other way (plus it's been years since I plugged it in . . . )

depends of the style of music.

I feel passive have better dynamics and sounds more organic...

But really depends what sound you want!

Active's are a tad sterile.
Passive Pups are spicy......

Even for metal I still like passive.
The only real advantage of Active
is the quiet/clean factor

But EMG has some damn good passive pups
that are really really quiet.
