Thread Starter | 2 diffrerent mic's on vocal ch ... ???
hellew slutz .. i need your opinion here, im doing a small project for my friend, kind of quick demo for a label. i recorded 2 separate vocal tracks, the first is Pendulum MDP1 w/ akg414 and the second with the MDP1 & AT4033, when i mixed them both together it crated harmony in the vocal track and everything seems to fit together perfect in the mix. is it a common thing to do in studio's ? that seems unprofessional to me, but on the other hand, our job is to make everything fit good in the mix right ? ![]() the vocal still sounds just like the singer in real time singing, nothing twisted there.. is that ok ? im new to recording, thats not my main task but id like to get into that in the future .. i usually mess with electronic stuff. Thank !!! |

Sounds like you created a double... If it sounds good and is working with your mix, then use it. Lots of records use multiple vocal takes to add effect or beef up a mix. I'm sure that with some of the pop records being made today, you are hearing 5 or more vocal tracks at once. Try playing with the delay time of the second vocal track and see what you can accomplish. Even a tenth of a ms adds some new dimension to a lackluster vocal take. |

As stated before, a Dylan did this trick live. It is just a matter of Eq and Mic timbre... That Bob on the European Tour used a main stage Mic for his growling vocals (...) strictly Q'ed on his own Freq. Plus there's a second Mic to put the whole take in a so-called scene, properly inserted on a reverb. |
