Best outboard reverb for ambient?

Hey guys. I am starting to get into dark ambient music, and I'm using some vintage analog synths for most of the sounds. What do you guys suggest I use for reverb for my music? I prefer outboard, although I will welcome software suggestions as well.

If you're game for something old, see if you can find a Lexicon 200. I think it was made in the mid-eighties. It had a distinct, specifically darker sound.

That is actually what I've been contemplating. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

some old Dynacord reverbs might suit you well, inexpensive. Ursa Major Space Station could be cool too. also a good old Space Echo, perhaps.....

orville or damn near any eventide rack. the verbs are spot on for all things tech, and you'll be able to warp your synths in ways you can't do anywhere else (including kyma/max/reason).

Thanks guys. And Mr. Holmes, those are all for for what reverbs are best in general. I don't want some bright reverb, and not too many people talk about the actual tone of the reverb (at least from what I searched).

The only outboard reverbs I would recommend are the KSP8, the TC 4000 and the Lexicon PCM96.

Convolution software is pretty much all I use these days.

No, the H8000 is not a great reverb box.

Its an awesome sound design piece though.

I think the H8000 has very good reverbs. Ofcourse i have never used a lexicon or KSP8 to compare it to so......

One reverb that I really love and would use is a Klark Teknik DN780. It is a sleeper: they are very well made and they have Haufe output transformers which give's it a smooth sound...And shhh, they are still under a grand..!

I think Eno and Lanois were pretty hip with a PCM70.

Might throw an omnichord in there.
