Gyah! Is there really a strike in France holding up my Focals?

Okay, so I'm in a pickle. I wanted to upgrade my monitors from my crappy KRK's and I had limited funding. With my credit line with Guitar Center and available capital, I was able to grab a pair of Solo6's through GCPro. Turns out their Americal supplier was out of stock and were waiting on a shipment from France. Now I hear from Guitar Center that there's a strike in France that could hold things up for however long. What gives?

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a strike of some kind going on in France. They're new president is trying very hard to change the work culture. The workers are resisting. "What, you want to me work a 40 hour week"?

No strike going on at the moment but a lot of bank holidays . This week and last week there were three working days ( and with the law on 35h a lot of people took their wednesday off so that made two days work a week) .

Things are very slow in may in France .

Hmm...Well, thanks for some local insight. I'm hoping to get them soon. I was originally told May 6th and then had a disheartening talk with my sales person with him having no idea when to expect them. I'm crossing my fingers!

Regards,
Daniel

Hey!

Yep, there is unfortunatly a strike at the port of Marseilles, from where the containers are shipped from to go to our Montreal facility.

As you can see here :

Le Figaro - Economie : La grève des agents du Portde Marseille déclarée illégale

(it's in french, sorry, only link I could find)

Fortunatly, the strike was declared illegal and they are suppose to start their activities back shortly. Can you imagine the backlog?

We're trying to reroute the containers to a different port but it's not easy...

Thanks for your patience!

Awesome... So does this mean that my pair of Solo's are going up in price since there is no more supply?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
I know what it's like waiting on them, as I had to wait a month or 2 to get my pair made before receiving them. It's worth the wait though.

Thanks, Simon. It is comforting hearing first hand information from the source, even if it is bad news in a way. Can't wait to get them, though!
