backing vox technique used by David Gilmour - remember that night

Hey everybody,
I´m relaxing a little bit and put on the David Gilmour DVD "Remember That Night", Live at the Royal Albert Hall

I could freak everytime I see his Astoria-Houseboat-Studio.....what a friggin dream that is!!!

but here´s a question for you:

when they track the backing vox (David Crosby & Graham Nash, ....not really a bad start for backing-vox anyway) they use a U67 (might be a 87, but I don´t think so) there´s a second LDC attached directly behind the Neumann....which looks kind of a C24 turned 45° for some kind of x/y or blumlein
(could possibly be a Neumann SM-2, but looks rather bigger than that)

has anybody else ever done this?? what are they doin?

an additional blumlein for stereo-ambiance?

never did this and looks interesting, makes me want to experiment more with micing techniques for vocals anyway

never guessed, but....David uses a Sony C800G!

....for anybody with the DVD, I´m talking about DVD 2 , the making of "on an island" 2:11min

come on slutz...enough of the GAS ...enlighten me with some tricks

wouldn´t that rather mean turning a single figure 8 by 90° ?
it pretty sure looks like 45°, which makes me think they use both capsules of the C24?

anybody else?
