M-Audio has much better drivers for PC than Creative. Also, the converters are better. Not pro, but better than the Audigy.

| you might want to look at the USB boxes. At least it will travel to another computer and it will still work when your next computer doesn't have a PCI slot.... -tINY |

Check out the E-mu 1010. I've heard great things about it. I use the 1212M and couldn't be happier. I used to use the Audiophile 2496. I have no complaints about it. The E-mu just has slightly better sound and uses more modern technology.

1010 is an M-Audio product. Not E-Mu.

The E-mu 0404 seems to be pretty bangin'. Look at these rightMark test results! It actually beats the 1212's frequency response!

To me, M-Audio Gear is like Casio... Yes, you can find good uses for it, but to use it on a daily basis is not going to provide good consistent results. I have yet to come across a piece of M-Audio gear that I liked, and I will stand corrected if someone can prove me wrong. Currently, I do use the 1212m from E-MU and am completely satisfied with it. I am a firm believer in what's going in. Tascam 424 4-track tape machines can be tweaked and used so that you get excellent quality recordings if you have a good mixdown system. Of course, with digital, I wouldn't recommend buying anything. Do your research. I was searching for months to find a digital audio card, then finally they released the 1212m and I felt like the luckiest man in the world. I use the 1/4" S/PDIF and MIDI all simulatneously and eventually will be using the ADAT when I have need for it. |
