We are still looking for a location to have drinks and eats.

Anyone know a good place? Centrally located, easy to find?

(it is always totally impossible to give accurate attendance estimate numbers, my guess is between 30 - 40 people - so we cant really make a solid reservation)

Anyhow, if you think you can make it please RSVP here please!

I will if I can, as long as you post a full address and you will be there late.

I'm probably driving from the UK on the Saturday and am unlikely to be in Amsterdam before 21:00 hrs.

So put me down as a maybe.

I'm giving a poster session on Sunday afternoon, so I'll probably be there Saturday night. Might have a few friends along, too.

"gezelllig"

Count me in, there are also a lot of nice places with Asian food in the "Rivierenbuurt", that's where AES, RAI is located. The centre of Amsterdam is also an option since it only takes you about 15 minutes to get there by public transport.

No, there's a Chinatown in the centre by the red light district though...

And if any of you have never been on a boat throught the canals; it's a very cool thing to do, I can recommend it.

Hey everyone,

a party organized by the Dutch student section will be held on saturday evening too, but I might still make a quick stop at the gearslutz party. Don't count me in for sure though.

What we will do is

1) have a pre organized meeting point inside the AES 10 mins before it closes Saturday night. (to be announced) We will have to stand outside for about 15 mins while we wait for people with booths at the AES to close down and join us.

2) A mobile phone number to call to find out where everyone is for or people wanting to meet us:

a) not at the AES but at dinner
or
b) not at the AES, not at dinner but for drinks after dinner

- On Saturday I might run around a little at lunch time to scout out a place very nearby that can deal with
a) an indeterminate number of diners
b) separate bills for each person.

Having done these get-togethers many times before, its really best to have the drinks / eats right near the AES so people parked there don't have to screw around with moving their car, and can walk back to the RAI parking lot and drive home after dinner..

An after dinner drinking (or smoking ) spot in central Amsterdam might get suggested - and thats where the mobile phone number will come in handy.. (and chocolate of course...)

I'll be there! (possibly with collegue)

And I can second the idea of one of the bars/restaurants in the RAI neighborhood.
There's a fairly big and nice bar really close (d'overkant) they also serve simple meals..
I can call and check ?

Sure investigate, thanks and get back to me via PM thanks

One thing that is often an issue - we must be able to pay with separate bills.

You mean the one from AES ; it goes throug the canals only. There are actually a lot of those boattrips in Amsterdam leaving at any time you wish.

Hey Schorsch :-) and Jules,

I'll try and make it.
Though Julian (other Jules, not the GS Jules) pointed out that the student party is set for Saturday as well... we'll see. Maybe George and I will find an all-you-can-eat spare-ribs again!

Cheers,
Andrew

I arrive in Calais at 19:30 (unless I can squeeze an earlier ferry) and my route planner says 3˝ hours to Amsterdam - so that's 11pm (ish).

So, a bit iffy, but I'll be there if I can - but as I have to work at the show the next three days, I can't burn too much midnight oil.
