So let me make sure I got this Little Labs Red Eye cable situation figured out

Another cable question. I have a Little Labs Red Eye. To connect it to my Digidesign 002R do I plug the mic level out into an insert or line input? When taking signal out from Pro Tools back into the Red Eye, I plug one of the outputs of the 002R into the line level in on the Red Eye, and just use a guitar cable from the re-amp out into an amplifier?

hmm..let me think about this...a mic level out...where could that go...how about a mic level in?! IE a mic pre! it's just a DI after all....you'll need the "reamp/DI" button pressed in to use as a DI.

The 2nd question's a little more sensible..yes, you just run line level into the redeye, make sure the reamp/di button's out, and then reamp out unbalanced cable (ie guitar lead) to guitar amp. Gives the right impedance to make amp think it's "seeing" a guitar.

For best results, I'd use a trs-xlr cable to run balanced from 002 into redeye.

With the Redeye, you want to take "mic level" out into a mic preamp, just like you would with any microphone. The mic level isn't hot enough to just go into a line input, and you have no control over the signal. So just treat it as if it were a microphone. Turn up your preamp until you see a good level in Pro Tools. When going the other direction, you're right, line output into the Redeye's "line input" and then "reamp out" to the guitar amp using a standard instrument cable. Watch out for the di/reamp button on the front.

EDIT: psycho monkey beat me to it...

Gotcha. Thanks, I know they are kind of silly questions but now I know, and knowing if half the battle.
