I just wish the search function wasn't limited to 500 results. Not that I need more than 500 opinions, but depending on the search, 500 results only goes back to '06 or so, and depending what "flavor of the week" was in style then, it can be hard to find what I'm looking for.

Go back to '02, and you've got people raving about certain things that in '06 they're bashing, only because some new product was introduced.

Try typing 1073 in the search function, and you probably won't get further than '07.

I can't understand why you can't have words with three letters or less, no others sites seem to have this limitation and if there's one place you frequently need to search for stuff under three letters it's with equipment names. Not sure what's with the 'wait 15 seconds between searches' thing either.

Try Google and doing a "cool piece of gear gearslutz" and be sure to add gearslutz on the end. You can do an advanced search too if you want and just search "gearslutz.com" but I find the first search parameters are fast and usually yield quicker, better results than Gearslutz's search.

I didn't know the search was limited to 500 threads! The more you know...

I'll have to do the google thing if I want the oooold stuff.

I'm still wondering why the allowable time between searches extended from 15 seconds to 30 seconds a few days ago?

I hate it when you think you didn't press the search button so you hit it again, but now you've tried to do two searches, so now you have to wait.

Just start a new thread asking for the info you seek, so that a bunch of dudes can tell you to do a search...every once in a while someone stops being mean and posts a link to useful info.

just use quotes:

example
La 610 = error

"la 610" = threads

I would say it's the 51. Just two characters in the search term. Same with the la 610 and the quotes make it 3 characters. Still not ideal, but seems to be the catch in the system.
