Paramore-Riot

I have to say i'm surprised i haven't heard anything about this album on here.

I like almost everything about this album (apart from some of the fills where the snare triggering is a bit obvious), and i don't just mean the engineering aspects, i even like the songs!

anybody have any thoughts, or even info about this albums creation?

Louis.

Do a search for more posts from Stereomixer.

That's a great record. Fantastic songwriting from top to bottom, and a really cool sound. It was also nice to hear a record that didn't sound like the Lord-Alge's, but still had that same in your face, urgent, radio-ready sound. And Haley is a SLAMMIN' singer.

Love the songs.. have heard some live clips and they can play.. but damn, that record is crushed - gives me a headache about 3 songs into it.

I love this record, sort of reminds of the All America Rejects to some degree. I was surprised it was not a Howard Benson production, though I had read he was in the running to do this one. Good stuff.

yeah in a lot of way's they're the perfect manufactured band (although they started innocently enough) - I'm sure they'll have a decent career... Plus hayley is hot which helps

no offense, just a counter opinion ...

What about the songs do you guys like?

Please explain... to my taste (as an listener, not as an engineer) this is the kind of music that makes the business a sad little cookie cutter factory. Where's the originality, the emotional reach out to the listener?

I guess if you like generic drums, predictable guitars and a whining chick singer it's a new version of that young pre-fab pop rock the kids think is music. And the chick is 'hot' ... why does that help? Do you think she's gonna sleep with you?

The production is professionally done, but that's not a big deal IMO. We should all be doing that.

Are you talking to me or the OP?

Personally I think they aren't particularly special BUT they're great at what they do - and they'll hit the teenage market hard - they're good performers as well...

That's one of the things I like about Bendeth. He can make a song have it's own sound.

I really like this album - "That's what you get" is perfect pop, "halleluja" has a great euphoric chorus, as does Miracle - great melodies and vocal delivery.

I love the overdriven lead vox in the chorus of Let The Flames begin - wonder how they did that?

Avril Lavigne has nothing on these guys...

David Bendeth is in this thread (nb his comment re samples!)

Best Pop Punk album you've heard (quality-wise)

Exactly. Can you say Evanescence? All music on the radio is professionally done, even overly so. So what. Stellar production still doesn't make great music. And the word is spelled "paramour". Deliberately misspelled names? I don't know... I'm an a**hole like that.

Personally, I love this album. I understand some won't like the actual songs but do yourself a favor and check out "Misery Business" for the drum sounds alone

Simple.. "misery business" came on "Ethel" on XM... I found myself tapping my fingers and humming along. Heard it again, found myself turning it up and enjoying it. Bought the CD.

Isn't that what a catchy tune is supposed to do?

"Hot" people can help sell. You know that. Sex sells. It's the one thing we all want. If a hot chick comes on T.V. and is singing something I can stand listening to ... I am probably more inclined to watch the video. Eye candy never hurts. Be it movies, music, or in my bedroom.

Regarding Paramore ... the lead singer isn't even that hot. She's cute ... too young though. Not bad to look at by any means. Their music is decent. It's not the next masterpiece our kids will be reading about in their music history books ... but does it have to be? Everyone's tastes differ. I bought Misery Business because I thought it had a pretty good vibe. Simple yet satisfying. Much better than half the other stuff I hear on the radio nowadays in my opinion. You can write the most technically complicated and challenging music in the world ... but if it doesn't move me ... it doesn't move me. Sing me three notes in the right way and I'll get goosebumps.

Personally I think it's become almost a style like aggressive autotune (ala Linkin Park), 80's power snares, and modern compression (I mean this in a good way). Maybe it's just me but I actually like the sampled gunshot snare sound. I dont think the general public can hear it... maybe if you told them.

Call it Emo or Alternative or whatever. Listen to this record. It's a POP record. To me that's a good thing. Sometimes I want a big slice of cake, topped with a slice of pie and a jelly doughnut. I doubt very much that they went in to the studio trying to out-do OK Computer.

Ah! Exactly. You probably didn't like R Kelly's masterpiece, "Trapped in a Closet (Chapters 1-12)" either.

It could happen! ...OK...you're right...it would never happen. She'd be like...<in a whiney chick singer voice> , "You look like my dad!"

Yeah. It's pretty easy to produce a hit record.

It's expected, by me at least, to produce a professional quality record. A 'hit' is a separate issue. If that's a hit, who's buying it? Teenagers? Okay.

That makes more sense now.

"Hit"? True, probably not by standards of 10 years ago, but for numbers that people are putting up these days, it's done decent. It's more of a breakthrough for the band (Grammy nomination and recognition and stuff), not so much a massive sales pusher.

Probably the same people who buy Fall Out Boy records, I'm guessin'.

It's so slammed that I get listening fatigue in about 2 min... Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this entire record has a dynamic range of about 2db?!

I love the sound of Riot. It's one of my favorite sounding albums.

The kick and the snare are triggered right? they always sound perfect.

i went to one of there shows last month, They blew me away.
