I like the PSP Vintagewarmer on Vocals. It´s one of the few plugins that donß´t seem to "destroy" the Vocals when pushed hard.

I used to use an SPL Charisma for that tasks which worked great. It could do everything from subtle to really distorted. I sold it anyway, cause Massey's Tapehead can do similiar things and is more versatile and if I need more drive than Tapehead can provide I either use Sansamp PSA 1 Plugin or the GT2 Hardware Pedal....add a little tape delay afterwards ->

What i did on a hiphop vox was : Distressor (Nuke + brit) > LA610 all at the max + a little OL on The Scorpion preamp, it totally kills the dynamics, add a lot of 3rd distortion and still very understandable.
add just a bit of verb/room to make it fat and let's roll.
Ohmforce have great distortion plugs, like Predathom but more likely Ohmicide (just love it on evrything, never tried it on vox, but i think it's enough precise to handle it)
Another way is to use an old mike like the one on my avatar (an old phillips from the 50's) lightly distorting the midrange.
