I've gotten a bit skeptical as to whether these will ever be available to consumers. I've also never seen a price range for these things. Does anybody know?

Cool the video looks very promising, although mine is without midi. It should leave the factory in a few days with Fedex ("Don't skrew this up Fedex!")

I can only say that I am pleased that in nowadays with all the plastic-key-synths at least someone decided to bring back a hardware instrument. It is going to take long and it is dedicated to a specific range of customers, so i dont mind waiting. I already have an old suitcase model (to be honest the amp is not something to die for) so i want to see how the new amp sounds. I have recently plugged my Rhodes into a Marshall JCM 800 and it sounded like a wurli!!!!

Yeah good, you found the first one, really interesting in-depth stuff, especially for me as noob to Rhodes. I hope to get a shipping date the in the next days and the instrument should be here within 2 weeks.

In the video I noticed, that the pedal seem to have the old pushrod design. I remember someone at Musikmesse telling they would be using a flexible cable-like design for the connection of the pedal. They seem to have ditched that idea.

I hope the pedal won't ship that much later

I'll keep you updated.

They're available. Call them up and place your order. I just wish I had the $$ right now.

The more I read about the owner of this company, the more I don't want to send him any of my money.

I probably shouldn't say too much, because he seems to be rather litigious. If you search around the web, you'll see that he was involved in some pretty nasty litigation with Harold Rhodes over the use of the name. Mr. Rhodes' heirs have little good to say about the current holder of the name. He also filed several other lawsuits against Scarbee and other to keep them from using the Rhodes name on any of their products. All that being said, I'd love to play the new Rhodes if I can ever see one.

If he went through all of that to get the name, I can understand him going after Scarbee and others, I'd do the same. It looks like he's got quite a bit of money tied up in this product, and most likely is really committed to seeing the MK7 become a success. I really hope this is a quality instrument!

Either the piano is a great new must have instrument, or not. Why would I care about any of the rest of that?

Wow, thats the best package there is I guess. was thinking about the midi too, but had to watch my budget. So a brandnew active Rhodes is fine with me.

Wonder a little about the cases filed by brandstetter against

Clavia, Avid, M Audio

Docket Search: "rhodes music corporation" Filed in the California Central District Court - Justia Federal District Court Filings and Dockets

Seems like he's not that friendly to the world of rhodes after all!!

I don't get it. What's wrong with someone filing a lawsuit to protect their trademarks? If I understand correctly, a company is obligated to protect their trademarks or loose them. Do you think these companies had a right to use the Rhodes name? if he said please that these companies would stop using the Rhodes name?

The irony of Branstetter suing everyone and their brother to protect the name is that he was originally sued by Harold Rhodes' widow for allegedly using the Rhodes name without permission.

I'm glad it's all worked out. I have to assume the courts got it right and hopefully Mr. Brandstetter got the Rhodes right. Who would base the purchase of an instrument on a trademark lawsuit? Not me and I think very few would.

just don't hit the wrong key and say you used a rhodes, you might get sued

I think it's really bad attitude,

You can compare with the clavia toonwheel clone C1, which initially had the name C3. Hammond had the tradename C3 and they just discussed it at a fair, clavia changed to C1. The amount of money that B. demands in this lawsuit can make a company go under, do we really wan't that attitude??

I think it's fantastic if B succeds whith the new production of a rhodes, but I must say I hesitate to support someone destroying busniess for others in an inproductive way.

To those on here that seem determined to scupper the new Rhodes-

All this is hearsay.

Would you have the balls to produce a new Rhodes? I didnt think so...

Whats wrong with protecting your trademark? Who knows what went on between Joe and Mrs Rhodes?

Point is none of us know so lets leave it there. You wouldnt want your name dragged through the mud based on supposed happenings and assumptions would you?

Let stop this pointless and unproductive posting about the new Rhodes and be grateful that someone is doing it properly. Its a huge undertaking.

This isn't about Joe and mrs rhodes as that is settled and over and you're absolutely right we don't know shit about what happened there.

This is today and a lawsuite referred to above against Clavia, Avid, M-audio et. al......about buckloads of money......and that is a fact not a hearsay.

You can defend you're trademark in many ways and anyone has to judge for themselves what they think of the way this is handled. Anyhow we can leave it there and see what happens.

Hope the mark 7 is as fantastic as it seems and is the cure for those endless repairs of the old Mark's......broke another tine on y Mark 1 yesterday...

Time to make some music
