Had MCMix for over a year now running with a PowerMac Dual G5 (2.5GHz) OS 10.4.11 EuControl 2.0.3. I recently Upgraded to 2.0.3 from 2.0.2 and noticed nothing new except an occasional annoying ("Eucontrol software unexpectedly quit"...happens once a month maybe?) The latest EuControl software v2.1.0 (??) is not compatible with OS 10.4.x - only 10.5 and above I believe.

I use it with my ProTools HD3 (Non-accel) rig. It works way better than the Mackie Control I was using for years before. The only limitations that I come across are those induced by the HUI protocol. This was a good buy (at $800 on Music123.com) and I've been 100% satisfied. I use my system nearly everyday to earn a living and the MC Mix does what I need it to. thumbsup

Using 2 MC Mix with Protools HD3 Accel 8.0.3 on a Mac Pro 8-core on OSX 10.5.8. Working just great. Using it most for automation volumes, mutes, pan, but sometimes using for plugins too, but that's a bit trick.

panning in pro tools hd?

Hey guys, just curious - is the rotary fader working for pan assignments for you all? I'm using MC mix in Pro Tools HD 8.0.1, OSX 10.5.8. The rotary doesn't do anything for panning... When I move to Logic 9, it works fine.

BTW, tried to get in touch with customer support 4 days ago. Sent 3 messages already, not a word back.

This may be a stupid question, but are you hitting the "Pan" button? Lower left side of the MCmix. The MC's don't default to Pan control like my old Mackie MCU and HUI's of years ago did.

And like someone asked above....I'd be curious to know how to get control of sends F-J as well. I'm thinking that maybe the lack of control for that bank is a HUI protocol shortcoming???

Anyone have any luck getting the pan control to work? Works OK for me in channel mode but not at all in "regular" mode. OSX 10.5.7 PTHD 8.0.1

they just released 2.5.4 - so far so good here.

Pan works again. (they did mention that 2.5.2 was mainly a Logic update and Pro Tools users did not need to update and could stay on 2.1)

so here is my experience: 2 Mix, 1 Control and now the Transport.

I actually use the Digi EQ3 and Dynamics stuff and they are set as my defaults. These map out quickly on the surfaces from the dedicated EQ and Dyn buttons.

I never used the Flip feature because it was not right ... I sent in a support email to Euphonix and they told me about Aux to Faders on the MC Control. This works great for what I wanted Flip for anyway...headphone mixes or Rev/Delay sends.

Forget about banking and nudging the old way. The jog wheel can be used to slide your session left and right rather quickly.

Even more so I have always used Pro Tools memory locators to store track show hide data. This does exactly the same as "Euphonix layouts"
If you have large sessions, this is the way to go and is way faster then banking. The locators can be recalled from the touchscreen.

I requested that they add a FADERS OFF option (fingers crossed). I did find that I can "remove" the surface in their EuControl software and it basically does the same. Add it back when you want them on.

Creating macros on the touchscreen is a whole new level for me. I love that but it can be daunting for noobs.

ohhh and I forgot to mention the region editing options with the wheel, especially the Transport. no brainer. not sure how that works, but it sure is not a HUI feature... nor on the C|24 or other Digi-surface

He said their eucon? their software is a little buggy sometimes but getting better with each release. He had gotten this as an expandable replacement for the command 8 and he now likes just the 8 fader more than the command 8 for some reason.

And he answers his phone! Imagine that... lol

Everytime I talk to my contact at Sweetwater, he forgets what he tells me. On his salary he has been able to buy $500k worth of gear. He doesn't know I am keeping a running total. I would not buy into that "I have one of those myself."

I think MC Mix is missing some important features compared to Command8:

- a,b,c,d,e,f buttons that let you quickly switch to desired send
- no plugin focus that brings you a currently open plugin on the control surface
- no master fader button that switches between layers with all channels, master faders and vca masters

Digi 003 in addition to all Command 8 functions has buttons for switching automation modes. Both Euphonix and Command are missing this important feature, but it is available on C|24.

I guess once they implement Eucon instead of that nasty HUI It should get way better. I wonder when will that be?

Been playin' with an McMix for a couple days. So far so good, nothing fancy, just volume, pan, mute, track arming, and plugins editing. It feels like a nice machine and especially regarding volume and pan is so much better compared to any mouse.

Unfortunately the plugins are mapped in a very confusing way, I mostly use URS A and N on every channel and their mapping is all over the place. It takes a bit of time to grasp it. I'll keep it a few more days to see if we like it enough.
