SM57's Modified & Stock Tests

Hey Everyone,
Myself & Rich Tozzoli just recently did a test of SM57's side by side on guitar & drums that i wanted to share with you all.
I also put up a video on YouTube showing how we set up the test and the mic positions.
(1) SM57 Stock from Shure
(1) SM57 with Tab-Funkenwerks transformer
(1) SM57 with no transformer (totally removed)

Download .zip Protools 7 session/audio here (audio files also in folder - all 24bit/44.1k/BWF):
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Here's a video showing you how we did the testing:

Thanks a ton man!

Great work! I am sure someone will complain about some aspect of this being "unscientific" but I thought it was very scientific!

Thanks for the session and thanks for the video!

I have come to some conclusions, but ill keep them close to the vest for now.

Cheers!

Mike

Great work man!

So now I have to mod my 57s. I liked the transformerless better on almost everything.

Very interesting. Thank you for doing this, and especially for making all the original wavs available instead of just mp3s.

I don't get what wouldn't be considered scientific about it. All mic/pre/converter comparison testing should be done like this. Someone gathers the data, you do your own analysis.

I definitely have some modding to do. :)
