Want to hear how good a $200 mic can sound on the right voice?

I'm kind of proud of this one...This is an older Studio Projects C1...of course it's going through a BAE 1073/Sta-Level/Rosetta...then mixed with a Massive Passive and Alan Smart C2 on the two mix...but...it all starts with the mic, right?

nice job, great balances & space.

not digging the tone of the vocal too much, but i suspect a lot of that has to do with the apogee. it works in the mix though, no complaints there, i just want something a little more 1959 and little less 1995.

love the way the sta-level is working, but doesn't sound like it.

That's a great sounding mix! I like the sense of space and appreciate the preservation of dynamics.

What treatment are you using on the vocals besides the Sta-Level?

sounds great! i had a c1 years ago and remember it being a great mic for the money. you really made it work in this track, good job! just curious, what other mics did you try with her and why did you decide to use the c1?

Thanks...

...great music makes my day. No matter how hectic...no matter what flaming bag of dog crap gets dropped on my doorstep...melody can bring a smile to my face. Especially well recorded original tunes like this one...brilliant.

It ain't always the gear...is it? Sometimes a pair of magic hands and a good performer...is just plain spectacular.
