Thread Starter | AT3035 vs AT3060 worth it?
I own an Audio Technica's 2020, 3035, and now i think i want the 3060. Is the 3035 much different then the 3060? does anyone have these microphones? Im only using them for recording vocals. i guess the question is in your opinion is it worth it get the 3060 or does it sound similar enough to the 3035 so much that it is pointless. Im new to the site. looking foward to participating. thanks an advance. -moyer |

I own both. The 3060 is sufficiently different from the 3035, it's brighter overall, maybe a bit scooped in the mids. It doesn't have a pad or HPF and can get a bit fizzy with a strong vocalist, best use is laid back, breathy vocals to moderate vocals, not for screamo. The tube is hardwired in place, it's a small Seimens model, so not easily swap-able. I'm glad I own one for variety's sake, but I put the 3035's up more often and on a wider variety of sources, although the 3060 does make a really nice room mic. Hope this helps.

honestly I think you'd be happier getting something like a blue bird, or even a 4040. In my opinion the 3060 is not a pleasant sounding tube mic and people pay for the fact that it is tube.
