Naked Eye vs Roswellite Naked Eye

Guitar is my main interest, so I could be happy with the standard Eye.

However, this Roswellite model can be used on Kick, where I happily use a D6, at2500, and a at4047. I am curious at how a ribbon would sound on kick...but the price jump is steep at about +$450. The indestructable Roswellite may pay for itself as it should be more reliable and durable over the years

And to be honest, I love the color of the roswellite- and knowing that I got some interstellar alien technology!

looking for Eye Roswellite feedback on the kick...would it make my other mics Ebay material?

Although they are voiced similar,

They are much different animals,

The Naked Eye Roswellite is a bit "beefier" and heavier in the low mids, as it has a very smooth, warm response. It's awesome on the kick, I actually favor it right on the out hole for a very large velvety girth. For GTR's, the NE Roswellite works really well in front a LOUD cab. I also like using it on the shell of the snare for a very cool disco style punch. Put it facing the top head of the snare with a drummer who is trying to kill the drum and you can actually make out the peak transient with really good intelligibility and focus.

The NE Classic is also a GREAT choice for GTR and vocals. It has more of an upper octave cut through thats great for heavy GTR's, as well as certain vocals. I also favor the NE Classic on the Kick, I just use it as FOK like 3-4 feet off, for a very clear and large tonality. I can assure you BOTH of these microphone's are built like Sherman Tanks, and longevity will never be problem. But yea, the Roswellite is amazing technology, and I DO think ts worth the extra dough to have a ribbon in your studio that boasts 140 DB SPL @ all frequencies.

However I think the El Diablo is a better choice for kick because it was voiced specifically FOR kick drum applications to be a hybrid/cross between a FET 47 on the out drum and a MD421 inside on the beater head. The NE Roswellite ain't too shabby tho.

But, El Diablo is not only a kick drum microphone,

Caution; You may need to pick your jaw up off the floor when you use the El Diablo with your GTR/bass cab.
